Times like these can cause us to question God. We can wonder where God is and why God seems silent. In addition, staying home and spending a lot of time with self can bring us face to face with our own struggles.
The spoken word poetry video below is on someone wrestling with God. (Watch till the second half to get the response to her questions.) After you watch it, write your own poem. I mean write your own questions or talk to a friend about them, and then go to the Bible and look for answers to those questions. Not really sure where to start? Try one of these:
- By topic – Pick one topic such as “suffering” and study out every verse in the Bible that talks about it. The topic could be the recurring theme from your questions.
- By character/person – Read about one person in the Bible who went through similar struggles you are experiencing. For example Joseph or Moses.
- By book – Read one of the books of the Bible. People refer to Job as a good book on suffering.
- The Gospels – Read about Jesus in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
It is okay for you to have questions and even to wrestle with God, but you need to let them out. It serves no purpose to keep your questions without trying to find answers. Think about this: Jacob wrestled with God until God blessed him (Genesis 32:22-31).
